Psychological Background:
CeCe comes from a poor background,
which is why she doesn't take for granted anything she has. She's worked
hard for everything she has. She tends to be maternal to anyone so much
as a year younger than her.
Personality Quirks: She does yoga every
morning for an hour and every night for an hour. It's her way of unwinding.
She'll bake at the drop of a hat and has been known to commander the
hospital kitchen for just such a purpose.
History:
CeCe is the only one in her family born in America, she was a happy
accident three years after her parents and four older siblings arrived
from Italy. They settled in an immigrant neighborhood, where Italian
was spoken more than English. Except at home, where her parents were
insistent that they all learn to be fluent in the language of the land.
This
helped tremendously at school, where she and her siblings surprised
all their teachers with their grasp of the English language. She thought
at first she'd be a writer, but soon found herself drawn to more humanitarian
endeavors. She volunteered in local soup kitchens and at women's shelters,
where she helped deliver a baby at the age of thirteen (an unexpected
event that wouldn't wait for an ambulance).
Her parents worked overtime to
send their kids to college, and between that and scholarships, they
all managed to go. CeCe went on to medical school, where she met her
husband, who was the psychiatric attending on her psych rotation. They
denied their attraction to each other until her rotation was over, when
she took the initiative and asked him out. They married three months
later, a marriage none said would last. But twenty years later, and
four children later, they're going as strong as ever as he practices
out of his home, and she practices obstetrics and gynecology at the
local hospital.
Special Notes: She speaks English,
Italian and Russian
