Psychological Background: Janet knew from early on that she was adopted. Her adoptive father threw it in her face quite often before he left when she was nine. Home life with her mother wasn't the greatest and she longed to leave it. All of this combined made her determined and willing to do whatever she had to. She's very much a survivor and a manipulator. She learned how to even while in school and still does it today. She is also very much a risk taker, not worrying about anything that could happen to her from doing it.

Personality Quirks: Not much of a cook so survives on take out, microwave food and vending machines. Goes out whenever she can to play pool not caring if it's not the best of bars or neighborhoods. In fact she gets a thrill out of going to such areas. When she plays pool she plays for money and often wins. Never goes outside without make up on. She also has a tendency to shop lift. She doesn't do it all the time just some times, mostly for the thrill of doing it then for anything she might need.

History: Janet grew up knowing she had been adopted and knew nothing about her biological parents. She found out early on that her mother had wanted her hoping to make the marriage work. She thought that what was missing was a child. the problem came in that having a child only made it worse. Her adoptive father was a drunk and abusive. He didn't like Janet and made it clear that she was no child of his. Janet was glad when he left and her parents divorced although he had a very big influence on her life and how she viewed men in general. Afterwards her mother had a tendency to blame Janet for her father leaving. Janet started staying out of the house whenever possible. She'd cut school, stayed out late, and partied. She managed to graduate from high school. One class in particular she only got through because she performed certain acts for the teacher.

After graduation she split town. She left with a biker and headed out with no intentions of looking back. She bounced from guy to guy, each one a step upwards in financial ways. They paid for everything and she made sure she got as much as she could from them. She knew though that sooner or later she would run out of men. She didn't really want to work but at the same time she didn't want to be like her mother and have no life of her own without a man there to support her. So she looked at her options and figured nursing was the best option. She could become a nurse in just a couple of years schooling and paid fairly well unlike other professions that took far longer. So she got the guy she was hooked up with at the time to pay for it. He almost threw her out when she was a few months from graduation but she told him she was pregnant and he continued to let her stay. Of course it was a lie but it got her through till she graduated. As soon as she had the degree she split town, taking as much of his money with her as she could.

During all this time she was also trying to find out about her birth mother. She was angry about being given up thinking it was for very selfish reasons. She managed to find out where she'd been born but not much else. Once she graduated with her nursing degree she took off for Ocean Cove, her birth town. She hoped there she could find out who her mother was. She got a job at the hospital and works mostly afternoons allowing her to go out afterwards to the pool halls.
