History: Tory is the daughter of a factory worker and a teacher. They didn't have much money, so to get anywhere she had to apply herself doubly hard. Her father died of cancer when she was still in high school, occupational hazard from the fumes and chemicals in the factory. Her mother sold the house and the two moved into an apartment where Tory earned scholarships to college, both academic and athletic for track and field.

In her senior year, just as she was accepted into medical school, she eloped on the spur of a moment with a classmate, Xavier. He was tall, strong and handsome. And he loved her. Her feelings were lukewarm at best, but it was enough for her. Eventually she did fall deeply in love with him and gave birth to their first daughter after her first year of medical school.

It was difficult, but they managed to raise their daughter and go to post graduate work. He earned an MBA and started working at a bank, she started her residency in oncology, a field that touched her personally due to her father's death.

She was covering in the ED one night when a massive MVA came through the trauma doors. That's when she learned her husband was one of the DOAs. She's never set foot in the ED since. She took two months off to deal with that, and be with her daughter, then went back to work. She had herself and her daughter to support now.
