Some common codes-At least from one NY Hospital.
Code Blue: crashing patient, send in the
code team (respiratory therapist, MD, critical care nurses, IV Team
nurse) for resuscitation
Code P: pediatric code blue
Code C: hospital at capacity, means overflow patients, if you
have a 44 bed unit, you'll put people in the halls to have a suddenly
48 or 50 bed unit. The ER will hold patients as admits (called ERAs,
emergency room admits)
Code Pink: Missing baby or kid. Hospital goes on lock down
Code Red: Fire. Code Red D: fire drill
Calling Dr Strong to Room XXXX: Uncontrollable patient, security
and big people go in to handle it, lol.
Code Yellow: Chemical spill
Code D: disaster
Code DC: hospital is on disaster alert, to recieve patients involved
in a disaster
Go-To: pre code. patient isn't coding yet, but might, so send
in the code team before you have to code them.
